  Why do you buy from a dealer ? Spent £4.5k on a car from SB Autos (£125 less than advertised. Market value from a dealer. Above market value if private sale). Service 6 weeks later revealed 4 MOT failures, 2 suspension advisories and more, quoted at ~£3k. It hadn't been driven much at all in that 6 weeks. Very surprised that SB Autos relinquished all responsibility as they considered it wear and tear. After much communication they offered to help me locate a replacement for the cracked alloy as good will (on reflection, the flat tyre at the arranged test drive could have alerted me to this fault). I was told that before putting on the forecourt they test drive and have a good look around the vehicle (like you or I would). Regardless of vehicle age, I buy from a dealer to get peace of mind that it is mechanically sound. Unfortunately this car was not and I had no recourse from SB Autos. Currently trying to assess the validity of the warranty I was sold, given the cars condition and history. The response below is a clear indication that the dealer considers it acceptable to sell a car that is not roadworthy. I have had no offer from SB Automotive to look the car over since the purchase. As soon as I had the report of the 4 failures and advisories I forwarded to SB, highlighting these. There was 1 advisory on the last mot (6 months prior to me buying the car). I have now booked the car in for £2400 of work to make it safe. I would have been much better off taking the risk and buying privately.
